Frequently Asked Questions about the Course
The next Bloom True E-course will begin on June 1st, 2015. Registration for the course is now open. The course is offered via posts published online every day from Monday to Saturday, for five weeks. We will be offering the course one more time in 2015 (dates to be announced). To be the first to know about new courses as they are announced, please sign up to receive our newsletter.
Yes! This class is for anyone who wants to loosen up, become more bold and explore their creativity in a new intuitive way. The process is very forgiving and no prior experience of painting is necessary.
Yes! Even if you have been painting for years, this class will bring a fresh approach, new techniques and a whole new way of looking at painting from a place of intuition, freedom and joy.
There are three main differences:
1) Although the course has been designed to feel as much like an in-person workshop as possible, there are also additional elements that will help to connect you more even deeply with your everyday life as a way to find inspiration for your painting process.
2) You will have access to the professionally-shot videos for six months, so you can revisit what you learned in each lesson (compared to a workshop where you might not recall everything said).
3) You will share this experience with a community of like-minded people from all over the world. You will be part of this creative family as you connect and support each other for the duration of the course.
Posts will go up daily on the classroom website Monday-Saturday every week for the duration of the course (five weeks). Only two of the days are ‘painting days’ and it is up to you when you check in. Some people will choose to log on every day, while others will set aside time each weekend to go through everything. You do not need to be in class at a specific time so it does not matter what time zone you are in. You will also be given a bonus six months’ access to the classroom after the end of the course, so you can watch the videos again or review any content at your leisure.
Please see this page for more information on the materials you will need for the class. Please note these are not included in the registration fee. If you find the canvases expensive, there are many other options you could try including heavy watercolor paper (something like a 300 lb. paper will work great), panels (such as pieces of masonite from the hardware store), over old paintings at thrift stores, or old doors.
There are two painting days per week, and it is worth trying to set aside at least 1-2 hours for each of these days so you can watch all the videos and really get into the flow. The other days offer creative prompts, audio interviews and theory posts, which should take you no more than 30 minutes per day – and you can do them separately or catch up on everything at the end of the week – whatever works for you.
You are encouraged to paint as big as you can – ideally on canvasses at least 24″ x 24″. You will need enough space to paint on the canvas and step away from time to time. The actual space itself can be anywhere – in your lounge, garden, garage, or even in the park!
Yes, you will have access to a private community area (on Facebook) where you can connect with others and share images of your paintings. This space will remain open indefinitely after the course has finished, so you can continue to connect with other participants. You can also connect with others and with Flora via weekly Spreecasts which will be recorded for your convenience.
Yes! All the videos are shot in HD and are high quality so you will need a fairly high speed internet connection to view them. The videos are a vital part of the content of this course so please do consider this. We are not able to provide alternative viewing options for people on dial-up or very slow connections (and we cannot give refunds if you are having issues viewing the videos due to your internet connection) so please bear this in mind when registering. If you have regular broadband and can see the video on this page you should be fine.
Flora will share a variety of techniques and painting prompts, but please note this is not primarily a course about painting techniques, or replicating an image of what is in front of you…or even knowing what you will paint before you begin. Instead, this course presents a holistic approach to life and painting which encourages you to allow your paintings to emerge organically in unexpected ways as a result of listening to your intuition, trusting and being brave.
The lessons are posted daily and remain accessible for the duration of the course and for six months afterwards. It therefore shouldn’t be a problem catching up if you are away for a week or so during the course.
Will the classes be available after the end of the course?
Yes, we are offering a bonus classroom extension of six months’ additional access to the classroom after the course has finished, so you can watch the videos and revisit any class posts as often as you like during that time. The community space will remain open indefinitely after the end of the course.

This course is for you if… You want to discover a unique approach to painting, which can translate into all areas of your life. You want to let go, be bold and allow your paintings to unfold naturally and in their own time. You are ready to feel the fear of the unknown, but take the leap anyway.
This course is NOT for you if… You are looking for a course on specific painting techniques or want to learn how to paint what is in front of you (although many techniques will be shared, this is much more about the approach than the individual techniques).
The course is available for $297. This includes access to an online classroom hosting more than 30 videos professionally shot in HD, daily posts Monday-Saturday for five weeks, a series of creative prompts and challenges, basic yoga instruction, downloadable audio painting prompts, five in-depth audio interviews with Flora and her peers, live weekly Q+ A conversation with Flora, access to a community of like minded people from across the world, plus six months’ extended access to the classroom after the course is over.
